A Great Passion for Model Trains
Model Trains Exhibition
This year, exhibitors from Quebec and Ontario present their model trains to the public at Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum.
Much like engineers, model railroaders design these miniature worlds to include structures, rolling stock, buildings, and even landscapes.
Model railroaders will share their passion with visitors who want to know more about the design of miniature layouts. Visitors can make this experience more fun by participating in regular Museum activities.
Schedule: Saturday August, 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday August, 20 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Take the opportunity to have a look at the Exporail Gift shop: there will be a big sale of used books!
*NEW*
The Canadian Railroad Historical Association and Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum, are proud to announce the production of the first customized model train featuring the museum’s colors.
Order your EXPORAIL miniature wagon between Saturday, August 19 and Friday, September 1, 2023.
Background to the creation of the wagon:
To mark the 60th anniversary of the Exporail Museum, our team and model train room volunteers came up with the idea of developing a unique wagon featuring the museum’s logo.
After many discussions, we finally decided to focus on a particular era: the 1930s, the decade in which the museum was founded. In order to reach a maximum number of ferrovipaths, we selected a wooden freight car with the classic data decals found on a wagon.
The question was then to determine the car’s color: coal black. Curious? Following the trend of special edition freight cars, such as the Canadian National Pride car, we decided to create a car in the colors of our logo: black and white.
Since the car can be coded to identify the railway company that owns the rails and the car, the initials of CRHA will appear on the car. The Association owns both the tracks and the wagons. The ACHF/CRHA inscriptions will then be visible.
As for the sequential numbering, our team agreed with the idea of creating a unique product and controlling the brand, i.e. the uniqueness of the numbers. Since this model will be the first in a long series, a numerical quotation was pre-established: AAAA-00000N to 00000Y.
Last but not least, this collector’s item will be equipped with a coupler and metal wheels.
